August 2015
Dear Friends
I hope that you are all enjoying this lovely sunshine and are having a good
Summer. We have been busy with school holidays, birthdays, weddings and other
lovely things, hence this letter is later than usual.
The Healing Centre continues to be busy on Thursday evenings, for which we
praise God and the services are great as always. Recent comments include, ‘The
worship time was really rich and there seemed to be a peace which broke through
and flowed out into the room’, ‘...The talk was brill; really encouraging and
rich.’ ‘Awesome night. God is good all the time. I thoroughly enjoyed the
ministry time and it was good to see so many new faces’. Thanks for your prayers
which undergird all that we do.
I was having a chat with someone yesterday about the power of words, how God
wants us to speak out positive things about situations, about others and about
ourselves. He wants us to know that we are precious to Him and a treasure and
that He takes great delight in us. He wants our words to reflect His. The bible
says, ‘For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it
judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart’ (Hebrew 4:12). It is always
important to ask God for a scripture/scriptures about situations in life, and to
pray in that vein as this helps us to see things the way God does.
I had the privilege last week of working with a friend and her children on
making a small banner for their home. The theme of their banner was Shivas
Haminin, which are Hebrew words referring to the seven fruits and grains of
ancient Israel, (Deut 8:8; ‘For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good
land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in
valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and
pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land where you will eat food
without scarcity in which you will not lack anything; a land whose stones are
iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper……’). It perhaps serves as a
reminder that God provided for their needs all those years ago and still is
their provider. My friend said that in their home they have a pin board on their
wall and when something happens for which they are grateful they write it down
and pin it on the board. This reminds them always to be thankful to God for His
work in their lives. What a great way of bringing children up to be a thankful
people.
God bless you all
Karen and David
